How to Decompress This Spring [Home Based Business Owners]

I was brainstorming with my business partner, Ginger Sassatelli, and we came up with a great way for us Home Based Business Owners to decompress and distress this spring. Spring is the time where you are now more than a quarter into the year and you have been on the hustle this whole time. Holidays, School, Promotions, Marketing, Raising children; all of it at a breakneck pace. IT is time to take a retreat. So What can the busy, home based business owner  do?

There is a SLEW of awesome things, but the most important one is to be able to get alone and tune out for a while.  here is what Ginger and I came up with:

SOLO PICNIC

Whether it be in the late afternoon, lunch time, or at night you will need these 7 things to make the perfect mini-vacation NOW.

  • Location: You need to find a quit place, a beach, park, an old oak tree.

  • Food: Pack a Nice meal like a Waldorf Salad or a Veggie wrap. What ever you like, Heck Bring Shrimp Cocktail if toy like (Fresh and Wild caught in US fishery)

  • Half A bottle 0f Wine: or Iced tea, Whatever you like.. Ooo Lemonade would be Awesome!

  • Water: Besides the other drink, You need to pack some Fresh Spring water, Preferably in a Glass bottle.

  • A Picnic Blanket: or a sheet, or a table cloth. Yeah, You gotta actually get on the ground :)

  • A Journal: With a Nice Blue inked pen.

  • TIME: 2 - 3 Hours Alone


WHAT you will not be Bringing with you

  • Smart Phone: Leave it, You'll be okay... MILLIONS of people have survived time alone for MILLIONS of years WITHOUT a Smartphone.

  • Anyone else: Alone time means alone time. Enlist the help of your family members, husband, wife, oldest children, Someone you trust, and have them take care of the family for 3 hours, it will be good for them.

  • Tequila: DO NOT BRING TEQUILA. I REPEAT, Do Not Bring Tequila.


Ask Yourself This:

" What would make it inevitable to Spend 3 hours alone enjoying a picnic this Month?"

1. Who do you help and how do you help them?


GET as specific as possible.

You can spend a lot of time and thought on crafting the perfect marketing message. And that’s time well spent.

But at the heart of every strong marketing message are two factors:

  1. Who do you serve?

  2. In what way, specifically, do you serve them better than any of their other options?


2. Blog content creates “attraction”


The most important function of your blog is to attract and grow the audience of people who are paying attention to you. A blog is your starting point to increase your influence and authority, and to let the world know you know your topic.

3. Solid email marketing deepens the relationship


Blog content is great to attract and grow your audience, but it’s not usually the best platform to make a marketing offer. (The “pitch” that offers an exchange of goods or services for money.)

The environment of a blog tends to be somewhat messy — it’s a rich environment with lots of opportunity for browsing, noodling from page to page, and diving deep into your content.

All good things — unless you want someone to focus on your sales message.

Year after year (in fact, decade after decade) email has shown itself to be the most cost-effective sales channel. Why? Because it’s both very cheap and very effective.

If email isn’t a part of your marketing mix, you’re missing out on the best way to convert your audience into actual customers.

4. Offers are the lifeblood of every business …


An offer is, very simply, what you have to offer your audience in exchange for money.

(There are other types of offers, too, like the offer of valuable free information by email. But let’s talk about the money type right now.)

If you pair the right offer with the simple marketing message above, about 80% of your marketing work is done. The rest is refinement and optimization.

And if you have the wrong offer? (Defined as: something your audience doesn’t particularly want to buy.) All the most sophisticated marketing in the world can’t help you.

First things first: Your offer must be something that people actually want to spend money on.

Once you have that covered, you can play with different ways to structure your offer to make it even more appealing.

5. … and the right place to make offers is on a landing page


As we said above, email is a wonderful marketing channel.

But it’s got one shortcoming — many users have a tough time really paying attention to a long email. But often, you need to offer more information in order to give your customer all the information she needs to make a smart purchase.

Enter: the landing page. This is a streamlined, focused presentation of what you have to offer. What you have, what it will do for your customer, and what he should do next.

Creating landing pages can seem a little intimidating, but they’re an invaluable tool in your marketing toolkit.

6. Social media keeps the cycle flowing


So now you have a marketing message, an attraction strategy (your blog), a prospect nurture strategy (your email list), and a conversion strategy (email message pointing your customer to a landing page).

What’s next? Take all that and grow it. And your social media platforms are an excellent tool for that.

Too many try to start here by opening a Facebook or Twitter account and rambling on. Social media becomes strategic when it’s used to spark conversation and engage interest that funnels back to your primary content (your blog) and encourages opt-ins for your email list.

You don't need some course in social media marketing. You already know how to use social media. Be friendly, be a good egg, be useful, and share interesting things.

People go wrong with social media marketing when they expect it to carry too much of the marketing load. Social media is just a good place to hang out with your audience, learn more about them, and be interesting. Save the offers and “marketing” for email list and landing pages, and you’ll find social media marketing much less mysterious.

7. And professional networking keeps your business growing


When you've maxed out your professional growth on your own, what’s the next step?

Find some like-minded business owners and start networking! Networking is a great place to find professional partnerships (writers, designers, blogs you can guest post on, etc.) as well as a terrific way to tease out the answers to tricky business problems.

You've got to face facts: As someone running a business (small or large), you're not normal.

  • Normal people work “day jobs” and assume that’s all they’re ever going to do.

  • Normal people let other people define what they do all day long.

  • Normal people are afraid to start businesses, because they’re afraid of the discomfort that comes from solving unfamiliar problems.


Now I love normal people. Some of my best friends are normal people. ;) But as a business owner, I know that trying to rely on normal people for business advice is a deadly dangerous mistake.

So get out and find some other people crazy enough to start and run businesses. Use them as your sounding board for business challenges. Use them to try out your refinements to your marketing message.

Anji Longs Story

Mentor and My Mentor and Co-Founder of The Legacy Lifestyle Academy Anji Long:



"I just thought I would share my story here to inspire some of you, a lot of you don't know my story and where I came from...

Almost exactly one year ago...

I was BROKE in almost every way imaginable...
...Emotionally, Spiritually Financially...

But the one area I was not broke was in VISION....

As I sat on my floor in my apartment after selling the last piece of furniture and valuables that I owned... I made a video...

I made a video every single day and that one action led me out of my own darkness...

The one thing that was saving me was this vision that I had carried with me for three whole years.

After giving up my very successful salon business (that I ran for 6 solid years) to pursue network marketing... I made a lot of wrong turns that led me 30k into debt and down to my last dollar.

But this vision that I had would not go away... it kept me up at night... This burning desire to make an impact, to inspire others and to make this internet thing work!

Slowly but surely with a lot of the right actions on a daily basis, I dug myself out of that dark dark hole...

I was able to pay off that $30,000 in credit debt with one months commission last December. Then I funded myself to go to The Billion Dollar Mastermind in Dubai.

Where I had a massive shift in my reality ....

But soon after that I had a break down....

One of my businesses that I had built up to 15k a month, was literally taken away over night, everything wiped out from under me AGAIN.

This I really thought was the end of the world for me...

I really thought about almost giving up once and for all. But I'm stronger than that. I was built for greatness, all of these challenges and tests were there to mold and shape me into the best version of myself.

That one thing being taken away was actually the biggest blessing in disguise.

Something just didn't FEEL right there. I wasn't living my ultimate VISION and stepping into my highest calling of leadership. I was just showing up to collect a check.

You see, I know great victory and I also know great defeat... much more than I have listed here.

I am thankful for every single challenge that I endured and every single time I picked myself back up.

I am thankful that I know great sacrifice so I can truly appreciate the rewards.

There isn't a single day that goes by that I don't think about the journey have been through. I know there are many more challenges, different challenges ahead but I am ready for them.

Until you are ready to sacrifice it all for your dream... you will never know what its like to DREAM BIG!

Now as I sit here finally KNOWING to my core that I am in the right place and living up to my full potential, I understand why what I had before wasn't sustainable....

You must work more on yourself than anything else. You must give unconditionally to others. You must have a rock solid vision that FEELS right to the core. And you must stay humble no matter what.

One year ago I sat on the floor in my apartment with my cell phone, my lap top and two baskets of clothes to my name...

Today I am packing my bags for the Bahamas to celebrate over 1000 members creating massive success on our team and 24k/month residual income that isn't going any where but UP!!!! Because I FEEL to my core that this is where I was meant to be.

The outpouring of gratitude from the people under my leadership gives me a jolt of energy every single day to go out and be greater than I was yesterday.

This my friends is sweet victory and it took the sour to feel as much gratitude as I do right now for this LIFE!

Thank you to everyone who has given me undying support on my journey. This is just the start of so much light that I am allowing into my life and excited to share with those that choose to include themselves in my circle.
